Be aware that about two blocks inland from Glen Cove, you will pass by a city park called “Glen Cove Park”. Don’t be thrown off – this park has nothing to do with the Glen Cove Sacred Burial Ground, which is located at the very end of Whitesides Drive and rests on the waterfront. [Major Samuel Whiteside led the US 7th Cavalry Regiment that massacred hundreds of Lakota men, women and children at Wounded Knee, South Dakota in 1890.]
